Walla Walla Vintners

In southeastern Washington, 4.5 hours from Seattle, you can find the beautiful wine region of Walla Walla. There are over 90 wineries across the valley that showcases Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Though, you can also find other varietals like Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Sangiovese produced.

Since we took a quick day trip, we only visited one winery, Walla Walla Vintners, which was recommended to us by a local when we had lunch at Walla Walla Pasta Factory (would highly recommend, their homemade linguine with clams was to die for!). The other two wineries recommended by the local we spoke to were: Basel Cellars and Three Rivers Winery. I can’t wait to go back to Walla Walla and try these two!

Walla Walla Vintners

Walla Walla Vintners is absolutely beautiful! Driving up the vineyard, lavender line the entryway and then you’re welcomed by the vines of grapes. The Blue Mountains frame the valleys of Walla Walla and as you walk through the vineyard, you can see the mountains peeking through. When walking through the vineyard, they allow you to taste the grapes from the vine, which were so sweet; it was such a fun experience. After walking around the vineyard, we tried 5 wines, which cost $25/person. They were all great, but my favorite was the 2017 Summit View Malbec since I like the darker fruity notes.

THE WINES

  • 2017 Columbia Valley Red Blend

  • 2017 Walla Walla Valley Merlot

  • 2016 Wala Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 2017 Summit View Malbec

  • 2015 Cut Bank Estate Syrah

We ended the day watching the beautiful sunset casting over the rolling hills. If you’re looking to get out of the city, Walla Walla is the perfect destination to unwind and enjoy some world class wine! If you’ve been to Walla Walla, I’d love to know some of your favorite wineries, so I can visit them on my next trip!
